Chainlight Lighting Systems: ‘Portuguese architects absolutely love EVA Optic lighting.’

Infinity pools overlooking palm trees, houses with spectacular waterfalls and pools that extend over several floors, for Christel Schönberger this is daily business. Her clients all have the most beautiful, modern villas. All equipped with a spectacular swimming pool.

Christel is owner of Chainlight Lighting Systems and provides complete lighting solutions, from her showroom in Lagos, Portugal. Both the interior and exterior of the villas are fitted with quality lighting by Christel and her team. “We only work with suppliers who deliver quality products that we can rely on. That’s why we only use EVA Optic lighting in pools,” she explains.

Modern design
In addition to quality, design is an important factor in the selection of lighting. Christel: “The lighting has to support the architecture. Portuguese architects absolutely love EVA Optic lighting because the lamps have a modern design and create a wide and even light distribution.”

Light color
“For the architects, it is also important that they can determine the light color themselves,” Christel explains. “With EVA Optic, we can choose from warm white, clear white, Mediterranean or RGBW. The latter is less popular among architects, but some customers actually find it very nice and atmosphere-enhancing.”

Appearance
One thing is certain: the look makes the project. Christel knows all about that. Before she started in the lighting industry, she was a visual merchandiser. As a result, she knows exactly how to present something tastefully and convincingly. She uses that knowledge in her work as a lighting specialist. “Pool lighting affects the whole house. We take that into account in our lighting plan,” she says. “Also, we always make sure that we place the lighting in places where you don’t see the lights directly, but they illuminate the pool optimally.”

Challenging shapes
The innovative designs of the architects Christel works with regularly feature swimming pools in dynamic shapes. One such project is Rock Garden. “The client really wanted to make it something unique and chose a pool with round shapes, nooks and crannies and rock formations. That was a challenge, because how do you make sure you don’t get shadowing?”. In situations like this, Christel contacts the specialists at EVA Optic. “They think along enthusiastically about how we can best tackle the lighting plan. I also use EVA Optic’s handy calculator to determine what lighting I need.”

Shared DNA
The personal and transparent contact, in addition to the quality products, is what sets Chainlight Lightings Systems apart from its competitors. “We often hear that contact with us feels like talking to family,” Christel says proudly. “Also, we are always very clear in managing expectations. Our customers really like that.” The short communication lines, direct and honest advice are also what Christel appreciates in EVA Optic. “We share the same DNA.”
