A conversation with Ms Praet-Rombouts
Why choose a counter-current swimming machine?
“Our swimming pool is really intended for exercise and keeping our muscles in shape. That’s why I started looking for a counter-current swimming machine.” Partly because of the size of pool we wanted, we opted for the EVAstream. “We wanted greater freedom of movement, so that you can swim further forwards or backwards as you wish.”
Have you done a trial swim?
Absolutely, and it’s just as well! We were going to go for the EVAstream 175, but during the trial swim it turned out that my husband could do with a bit more of a challenge. That’s why we opted for the 225, because staying healthy as we get older is our priority.
It’s also great that we can now control our lighting using the web app on our tablet. You can’t do that with the ECA Eco. Without the trial swim, we wouldn’t have realised how important that was to us.
Do you use the swimming pool a lot?
More than we’d expected. When we get up in the morning, my husband goes for a swim first. Once he’s finished, I follow him. We use the tablet to switch on the machine and adjust the settings. My husband can go a bit faster than I can. So when I get into the pool, I turn the EVAstream down a little using the web app on the tablet.
Have you become healthier too?
We’ve been using the EVAstream for three months now and I can really tell the difference. Swimming is getting easier and easier, and I challenge myself by gradually increasing the counter-current setting. I’ve noticed a difference outside the pool too! Yesterday I spent a couple of hours working in the garden. I dug trenches for wadis, which was quite a tough job. Normally I’d be tired afterwards, but now I’m fine.
Would you recommend the EVAstream?
Absolutely! We really enjoy it and it works well. The grandchildren enjoy it too. When they come round, we set the EVAstream to a gentle setting. It really is quite an experience!
