In November 2024, the first phase of the renovation and new construction of the National Swimming Centre De Tongelreep in Eindhoven was completed. This phase included the delivery of the changing area, the 50-metre pool, the competition pool and the instruction pool. Work is currently underway on phase 2, the construction of the recreational pool, for which no definitive delivery date has yet been set. A total of two thousand square metres of new swimming surface that will be located around the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium, the eye-catcher of De Tongelreep.

Phase 1: Modern lighting for optimal performance

In the first phase of the project, which was completed in November 2024, we supplied various lighting systems. EVA LED line lighting above the 50-meter pool and competition pool provides uniform, energy-efficient lighting that is perfect for both training sessions and competitions. In addition, EVA installed downlighters above the instruction pool, which provide bright, focused lighting for optimal visibility and safety during swimming lessons.

Phase 2: Dynamic lighting for the recreational pool

For the second phase of the project, the recreational pool, we supplied custom lighting solutions that enhance the recreational experience. The Hydra spotlights provide above-water lighting, while the Mono and RGBW downlighters provide the possibility to adjust the light to suit the atmosphere and activities. The Lara LED line accent lighting emphasizes the modern architecture of the recreational pool.

Unique features of the project

Sustainability: The existing swimming stadium already has PV panels. These will be supplemented with approximately 1,650 new PV panels on the roofs of the swimming pools and the entrance area. A conscious decision was made to use a traditional roof under these PV panels because the rainwater that is collected here is reused by means of a UF-RO installation, which means that the water can be used in the swimming pools. The other roofs will be fitted with a green roof.

Innovation: The addition of a new 50-metre pool creates a rarely seen combination of three 50-metre pools in one swimming complex, which benefits both top athletes and recreational users.

Sustainability and innovation are two features that fit seamlessly with the EVA lighting.
